Safe Bulkers bulk carrier MV Kypros Land successfully concludes search and rescue operation of a fishing boat in danger after loss of power



Safe Bulkers bulk carrier MV Kypros Land had deviated from her voyage for a two days search and rescue operation after responding to the mayday distress call sent out by the fishing boat KT Angsana on Friday, 26th September 2014, due to engine power failure, 450 nautical miles from closest port of East London, South Africa.

Safe Bulkers bulk carrier Kypros Land rescued the 29 fishermen, crew of the fishing boat KT Angsana. Four KT Angsana crew members were taken aboard the Kypros Land during the rescue operation. All rescued are in good health, no injuries reported. The skipper and crew of KT Angsana commended the Master and crew of Kypros Land for the fine rescue effort and expressed their thanks. Kypros Land departed to continue on her voyage on Sunday, 28th September 2014.
